She believes in forming trusting, long-term relationships with her patients and her highest priority is creating customized, beautiful smiles that last a lifetime. Dr. Lu has been practicing orthodontics in the Chicago area for over ten years.
Dr. Angela Lu was born in China and grew up in Connecticut, where she attended the prestigious all-girls boarding school, Miss Porter’s School. Dr. Lu graduated from Barnard College-Columbia University in New York City’s Upper West Side in Biological Sciences. Dr. Lu then attended the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine where she earned a scholarship for academic excellence as well as her Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree.
Dr. Lu is a board certified orthodontist and completed her three-year orthodontic residency training at University of Illinois-Chicago College of Dentistry. During residency, Dr. Lu studied accelerated tooth movement for her research which was awarded the 2018 AAO Thomas Graber Research Award. Dr. Lu then received her Master’s Degree in Oral Sciences and her Certificate in Orthodontics. Dr. Lu is dedicated to changing the lives of her patients by helping them achieve a new smile and providing the highest quality of care, which is one of the many reasons she stays up to date with the newest technologies and latest techniques in orthodontics. She continues to be involved at the University of Illinois Chicago throughout the year and is also actively involved in professional organizations. She maintains memberships for local, state and national orthodontic organizations (ADA, AAO, ISDS, CDS, and MSO).
She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and started learning Chinese traditional dancing when she was only five years old! Dr. Lu resides in Chicago with her husband James and two sons and is active in her church community. She enjoys cooking, traveling and spending time with family.
